Thought this would be appropriate for the season! This little oil comes from a pastel I did on site at Monhegan last summer. Lovely memories of a warmer environment.

I've been quite absorbed with doing custom little paintings for the holidays, so this is the only new one I've posted in sometime. Will get back to more regular postings after the New Year!

Looking at Manana

This piece actually sold before I got it posted, but I want to include it anyway as it is part of my Monhegan Cottage series. This tidy little cottage spends the day gazing out at the island of Manana, just off Monhegan shore. When standing on shore, Manana looks very close...a quick paddle...but alas, it is a good distance, and with the whether and winds ever changing it has happened that a peaceful row out turns into a scary row back.

Waiting for Guests - Monhegan

From this low perspective, the cottage seems to go on and on, and the chairs glow in the morning sun waiting for guests to come, sit, and enjoy the fabulous view.

Another perspective, looking down to the water from one of the rock-edged paths. This was late in the afternoon when the sun was low. The birches had a glow to them.

Nestled Cottage 2 - Monhegan

Even on those kind of hazy days, especially in the mornings, the Monhegan light is special. I loved the way this cottage was barely visible as we walked along the rocky edged path. One can only imagine the view from the place.
